Beyond my Media course, i have created a YouTube comedy channel called Camerashykitty. It’s still in the growing pains at the moment, with a dying camcorder and a useless editing software. But never-the-less we are flooding with ideas, thats why im asking any readers that read this is to go and subscribe to it. We are always open if you want to give us feedback, or criticise (positively) that would be fabtastic.

But the more subscribers appear, the bigger we become!

Tell your friends, family please (God we sound like a pathetic charity)

This is the evaluation of my groups 2 minute movie in the vampire genre; it was a success as it’s up on the college YouTube channel www.youtube.com/stvmedia. But as all creations of Media, it can be improved. Starting with a wide shot of James (Me) and Esme (Amelia). James started to walk down in a gay mannerism, at the end of the wide shot I smiled as I loosed character, and Amelia corpsed, this could have been edited out, or re-filmed. But the low-key lighting worked well, as we filmed at the right time of day (10.00am approx) And the non-diegetic  music creates the vampire iconography.

The mid-shot of the me and Amelia and the globe with the quote line “I told you he’s no good for you”  Can be improved by dulling the high pitch screech from the non-diegetic music, so you can hear James’s line more clearly.

Again we need to cut out the corpseing from Amelia by editing or re-film.
At  Amelia’s line “Why”  The  start of the word is distorted because of immediate filming, for next time we should wait for 5 seconds after pressing record, for friendly editing.

After that shot, i dropped the globe accidently, we keeped it in for comical factor. But there was a continuity error, as Amelia is tied up in most of the shots, but on that shot she covered her ears because of the shock of the loud clatter of the globe.

The camera zoom is effective in the shot of “This time i have a plan” than the moving the actual camera, because it gives a sinister connotation which plays in the part of the iconography. To improve on the iconography we should be in costume, but to due to poor organisation and the refusal of me wearing a dress (¬¬) the idea was forgotten.

The script was used as a bible, we did not used any improvisation worked, so this show how much effort we put on the script.

On the running scene in the field with Steve, you hear my voice at the start “Well go on then” To steve for the cue to run, we forgot to muted the audio track to this, so it seemed a bit amature, and again with the “thinger, globe, steve” shot, you can hear me say “Go” to cue steve to duck at my finger. Therefore to improve our filming i should signal a gesture, instead of using my voice.

At the end of the running shot you hear the wind going through the microphone, again its increased the amature atmosphere, therefore to improve on this we should connect an external microphone with a fluffy cover over it to stop the wind noise.

The best shot in my opinion is the establishing shot, with the angle shows the proportion of Steves character and the building. It makes the building castle-like. (Linking back to iconography again)

Over all, the editing needs to be a bit more snappy and cleaner, and the acting should not corpse.

By viewing the trailer, there are no day scenes in the shot, maybe because this emphasising that they are Vampires and they cant goes out at night, or all the actions or important scenes are in the night-time. This symbolises the traditions of Vampires that they cannot go into sunlight, if they do they will die. Also there are castles and mansions, these similarities to Dracula and his castle in Transylvania. But in IWV the location set in 16^th century in France not in Transylvania or in the eastern block. Also it is set America in the modern day, not in London. So they went past the tradition of a Scandinavian vampire, moves to a richer civilisation like England or the USA. Ideas of having a vampire that set in modern San Francisco are very original.

Symbols of the vampire cult appears in the trailers are like the darkness, coffins also is appeared. But the wickedness and the insanity of the beings are clear through the vampires. In other words, one vampire are a “goodie” but most are a blood sucking monster.

The biggest subject is death. They have portrayed this really well in IWV because a vampire for the 16^th century to the modern day shows the immortality of the vampire, and that also tick one of the vampire traditional traits, of being immortal, like a shell in a human body with super human strength, hits the hovering when a victim is being bitten by a vampire.

This showed the conteversity of this issue, about 1,000 people complained to the Daily Mail, which cased the server to crash. Also homosexual stars also joined the issue, such as Stephen Fry and Derren Brown posted there views of the social networking site Twitter.

She use a stereotypical view on Stephen Gatley, she thinks that being a gay star dies early, or misuse drugs like George Michael. She suggest thats there something sinister about his death saying that he ”do not just climb into their pyjamas and go to sleep on the sofa, never to wake up again.”

In my opinion i think Jan Moir should get her nose out of this business, she treating this subject (please excuse the hyperbole) like the assassination of JFK. She making this a conspeariousy  theory like Michale Jacksons death, so she can be popular, i think we should just respect the death, and remember the memorys of Stephen Gately.

This is for my Media homework, but dont click the X right now it’s going to be interesting. (I hope)

Newspapers:  I have a paper-round, and to be honest, i am quite sick of the bloody things. But never-the-less my Dad buys the Daily Mail and the The News, and i seem to absent mindlessly read them in the morning with a cup of coffee, and a mission on my mind to wake myself up as soon as possible. But I have to be honest with you readers, that the best part of the newspapers is the comics…end off.

Magazine: Everytime,  i shop at my local Co-Op, my eyes tend to look at Top Gear magazine. I want to buy it, but the demanding price of £3.00 seems a bit of a commitment to buy it. My Mum buys such Magazines such as;  Women’s Weekly and other dribble like that. I read them, not because i find interesting, but amusing especially the problem pages. Ahh so many memory’s in the morning busting out laughing, about a lady who seems find James May attractive.

Online: I am a Facebook person, even though it’s a bigger gossiper than OK. I even got it to text me, if someone comments on my status (yeah i know, its annoys me after a time). YouTube is a place of worship in my opinion, music videos, vloggers, and crazy stuff such as picking up a Gwizz’s and throwing it in the River Thames…classic. Also i make Doctor Who spoofs on the Tubes, which is kinda sad if you stop and think about it.

Books: I tend to keep reading the Harry Potter series, because it’s the only books i have, and also its awesome and i find J.K Rowling a genius, but i try not to be bias.  But my girlfriend try to get me in to the Twilight Series, but shes failing. Secretly i want to read them, but again i have commitment issues with these things. ( Its sounds like i need counciling)

Television:  I watch the legendary Top Gear (On Dave most of the time), becuse i find the cars better looking than supermodels. Also the three presenters; Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, always put a smile on my face and a laugh in my vocal box. Doctor Who and Torchwood is  beautifully made, and beautifully addictive as well. I can remember going in to the hairdressers asking for a “David Tennent”, oh dear.

Radio: Hmmm, i tend to put Spotifly on the PC, instead but in the car, my favorite station is Heart, because all the time i put it on a music fits my mood. It starting to scare me a bit now.

Films: So Many i can say, i love Dark Knight Heath Ledger and Gary Oldman deserves a standing ovation. But i am now discoving more films now, because my friend has a personal Blockbusters in his house. Comedys  in all my favorite but the power of laughter always makes you look on the bright side of life, and thay what we need in these times dont we?

Music: I am a Muse lover, i love them so much, that i cant write it without saying a Sonnet. I tend to repeatively listen to the same song over and over again, because its stuck in my mind all day. Like now Coffee and TV by Blur is in my head, and We are Golden by Mika
